The Truth About Supplements
Don't get Ripped off, Get Ripped! With so many supplements out there how do you know what products are actually worth your money? Well we are here to help. I will try to post all that I know so you can see if it works for you. To the right is a selection of articles that are very worthwhile reading, please check them out. Will Brink has given me permission to post some of his articles for you to read. He has also given me permission to give you this free creatine report. For $49.95 you will be set for life when it comes to fitness, diet, and bodybuilding knowledge. Will Brink is an expert when it comes to what supplements work and which ones are just hype. He uses clinical reports and actual scientific data to rate the supplements he recommends. He is not part of any supplement company so has no bias when it comes to supplements. He gives you the information and ratings about the INGREDIENTS found in the supplements not brand name itself. This way when you read a supplement bottle YOU will know what it does and not be dumbfounded by the filler and BS additives that are often added to supplements to make you spend more money. My personal picks of good supplements for muscle, stress and health and why. 1. L-Tyrosine L-Tyrosine is a nonessential amino acid that your body uses as a precursor to many neurotransmitters used by the nervous system such as; epinephrine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine. A deficiency in L-Tyrosine can cause poor communication in neural pathways resulting in depression, mood swings, and poor stress tolerance. It also plays a large part in hormone regulation in the Pinal, adrenal, thyroid, and pituitary glands. L-Tyrosine also helps the body produce enkephalins which are known to help deal with pain. Benefits: By doing all of the things stated above L-Tyrosine helps you deal with stress more effectively. Works as a slight stimulant, less powerful than coffee and no crash. Some studies show that using L-Tyrosine with other weight loss products show a synergistic effect yet the L-Tyrosine on it's own yields very little weight loss power. Dose: About 1 500mg pill 3 times a day. Often takes a week or two for a noticeable difference. Purchase: get the 500mg format ones. Most health food places carry it.
2. Multivitamin I don't think that I need to explain this one. If you find yourself, tired, moody, sick and unable to deal with stress on a regular basis, you may find that this will make a world load of difference. Often takes a week or two for a noticeable difference. 3. Creatine Yes, I said Creatine. Creatine gets a bad media wrap all the time. However the claims are unfounded. Creatine is used as an anaerobic energy source in the body, Your muscles use it as do every other cell in your body. It works much like ATP but creatine is 5 times as potent. You body usually has a decent amount in it but your body could use more to operate a peak potential. Creatine is found in decent quantities in red meats and some fish. Creatine deficiency has been shown to decrease muscle mass, performance, and also cognitive ability. This is a reason why if you are a vegetarian you should defiantly supplement with creatine. Benefits: Increase in Muscle Mass, this happens over a couple of weeks as your muscle tissue absorbs the creatine and thus to maintain proper osmotic pressure in the cell sucks in water. So when people say that you only gain water weight with creatine, in part it is true, but this extra water helps muscles heal faster, and the extra creatine increases your strength by a bit. This added strength allows you to work out harder and lift more weight resulting in more muscle development in a shorter span of time. Some studies have shown that Creatine aids in nerve recovery of accident victims and some evidence shows that creatine may help slow down the onset of Alzheimer's click here to see the article. Dose: 2-5g a day. You will hear in many places to do a 20g/day loading phase for two weeks. Don't do it! Yes you will get results quicker, BUT, you will need a seat belt in the bathroom and you will suffer from severe cramps. Start off with a 2-5 gram serving a day and keep that. It will only take about a month or two longer to get to the same stage as someone doing a loading phase but you will be better for it, also it will help reduce the chances of stretch marks, which can sometimes occur from a loading phase and a heavy work out regime. Creatine doesn't dissolve well in water, there are two ways to deal with this; 1. mix your creatine with Gatorade or juice and stir between sips, 2. mix the creatine with warm green tea. Purchase: There are no clinical trials done by non-bias companies that prove that any other form of creatine works better than creatine monohydrate. For the difference in price I would recommend to buy plain old Creatine Monohydrate. Prolab, Creatine Monohydrate 1000g $34.99CDN This is what I use. This 1000g tub should last you almost a year! I usually mix it with Gatorade, or green tea. 4. Whey Powder Whey powder itself isn't going to make you explode into muscle. It is just a healthy way of getting the right amount and type macro nutrients into you for a cheaper price than eating chicken breast and steak all day. There is also many other health benefits to whey; cancer fighting agents, stress reducers, cholesterol reducers. and many other benefits. I said that I would not recommend anything that I would not myself purchase or use. The following two products by Will Brink are probably the BEST e-books that I have ever read in reference to nutritional health for mass and weight loss. These books go over the basics on how to eat for muscle and how to eat to lose weight but still retain muscle. Will Brink explains most of the different types of supplements out there and uses scientific research articles to rate them. His books are all fact and no BS and are well worth the money.
One of the best things about Brink's Bodybuilding Revealed is the Brink's Bodybuilding Revealed forum. It is chock full with everything you ever wanted to know about gaining muscle and some information you'd rather you didn't.
